Keep an eye out for the next issue of Australian Traveller Magazine to read all about Sebastian Terry's Bucket List of 100 things to do.
A client came to me recently with a beautiful idea for her mums birthday present. They are wanting to present a photo album full of memories of the family at different stages of her life. With a plethora of hobbies, interests and loves, the album is broken into seven different chapters, each new chapter representing a different stage of her life and in turn represented by an illustration on the title page.
A few things we are trying to cover are; love for her 'dreamboat' (as she calls him) husband, old friends, beautiful children, grand children and extended family, adventurous holidays, numerous four legged companions, the ever-green thumb, her artistic friends and love for the art world.
Her personal style is very much a minimalist with a flare for colour and still life art. I have tried to incorporate elements of her two favorite artists / friends; Cressida Campbell, (for her love of florals and still life) and Margaret Olley (for her romantic style, strength in colours, subjects of fruits, flowers, woods and whites). This is how we have developed the concepts below.
To accompany the photo album, I have also put together an invitation. This is the magnolia illustration in the previous post. I am in the process of putting together the graphics for a DVD & DVD cover and finally a repeat print for a tea towel. The tea towel is a little sentimental piece for everyone at the birthday party to keep.
To view my illustrating process of each of these illustrations, please follow me on my instagram account: @sallysprattstudio. I still have another 5 illustrations for the album which will be uploaded at the very end. All these illustrations are still missing their colour, this will be completed at the end so keep an eye out!
Thanks and let me know your thoughts!! xx
